The Joy of Match 3 Games
There is great satisfaction for me in playing match 3 puzzle games. There is something uniquely satisfying in creating a match, especially when it creates a cascade or a chain reaction. Once you know how to play one of these games, the strategies can often be carried over to other match 3 games. Below are some of my favorite match 3 games.
Bejeweled 3: The Bejeweled series of games is responsible for introducing me to match 3 games. I was introduced to the series when Bejeweled 2 was a new game in the mid-2000s. However, Bejeweled 3 is where the series really diversified into something special. It is this great diversity of modes that have contributed to the longevity of relevance of match 3 games.
Candy Crush Saga: I started this game as something to play on my phone while I waited to pick up my daughter from the bus when she was in kindergarten. Now she is in high school, and I still love this game to this day! This game has microtransactions that allow you to purchase items to assist you with progressing to the next level. I have only paid $.99 once to help me get through a level that I was stuck on for months. I enjoy watching what I like to call the aftermath (aka sugar crush) which is watching all of the automated matches that occur after clearing a round.
