I too am contemplating the Apple Ecosystem on a larger scale. For phones, I also have an IPhone SE and and IPhone SE 2020. I use my Chromebook for my main computer (which I love), and also have a new PC that is Windows 10 and upgradable to Windows 11 when I'm ready in a few months. I also have 2 older PCs that have Windows 10. I am thinking about getting an IPad Pro and possibly a Mac Mini as my needs progress. I like your analogy of being in an enjoyable prison. I am aware of Apple's limitations with being able to experiment and tinker like you can on Android, but I'm ok with it. I just want the operating system of my device to stay out of the way. Chromebook and IOS do a pretty good job of doing that. I've had problems with Android phones in the past, and IOS relieved me of most of them. One final point is that the Apple Stores are awesome. I went to replace the battery for my 2016 Iphone SE, and they weren't able to do it, so they gave me a NEW Iphone SE for the same price as replacing the battery.
