I agree with Mark’s comment. Sega doesn’t have the cash to risk entering the game console market. I do like most of the moves Sega has been making in recent years,which include: Making another Genesis compilation disk for current gen systems, Sega Genesis mini, Streets of Rage 4, Sonic Mania, re-releasing Shenmue 1 and 2, free ad supported Genesis games for mobile. Remaking Panzer Dragoon (although I would haved loved a multi-console release).
I think that the Game Gear mini could have been special if they went a similar route as the Sega Genesis Mini. 4 games for almost $50 is a no go for me. I would have jumped in for $50-$60 for 50 great to average quality games with the ability to have it played on a TV also. Yet still, it is an interesting step for Sega gently dipping its toes in the console market again.
